The process starts by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The FAFSA is then reviewed by Madison College and the student is alerted to any other steps they need to complete prior to receiving an award notice. After all review and processing is complete, a financial aid award package is posted to the myMadisonCollege account and an award notification with instructions is sent to the student. Federal Direct Loans are awarded to all students that are eligible. It is then up to the student to decide whether or not they would like to accept those loans. Students must be enrolled in at least 6 credits to be eligible for loan funding.
If you are accepting any portion of your loans, you will then need to complete Entrance Loan Counseling and a Master Promissory Note. For more information on completing Entrance Loan Counseling and the Master Promissory Note, please visit the Financial Aid Loans web page.
