How and when will I get my 1098-T tax form?

A record of student tuition, material fees, & supplemental fee payments for tax purposes is called a 1098-T. The 1098-T provides an official record of qualified tuition payments from the previous year.

Students are encouraged to grant consent to receive their 1098-T online in their myMadisonCollege Student Center. Once consent has been granted, it does not need to be granted again for the following year.

1098-T's are expected to be available towards the end of January, but no later than January 31. If online consent is not granted, the 1098-T will be mailed out by January 31. Students are responsible for keeping their mailing address and contact information current in their myMadisonCollege Student Center. Students can enter mailing address changes online via the Student Center.

To grant consent and receive the convenient 24/7 online access in the Student Center to 1098-T, please follow the directions below:

  1. Sign on to myMadisonCollege and go to my Student Center.
  2. In the Student Center "Finances" section, click on the "other financial..." drop-down menu and select the "View 1098-T" option.
  3. If you have not previously done so, you will need to click on the green "Grant Consent" button to receive your 1098-T via online access. Granting consent means you will have online access 24/7 to your 1098-T in your Student Center and you will no longer receive a paper copy of your 1098-T in the mail.
  4. After granting consent, click the appropriate "Tax Year" hyperlink to view your 1098-T statement.

Students may not receive a 1098-T for any of the following scenarios:

  • grants and/or scholarships received exceed tuition/fees
  • non-degree tuition/fees
  • third party paid tuition/fees
  • WI GI Bill and Post 9/11 benefit payments
